Latest Project

Inspired by John Wesley Powell's 1869 expedition through the Grand Canyon via the Colorado River, my new CD - "99 Days to Callville" - continues in the drama/suspense tradition of "City of Quartz." I hope you enjoy it!

"We are now ready to start on our way down the Great Unknown ... We are three quarters of a mile in the depths of the earth ... We have an unknown distance yet to run; an unknown river yet to explore." - John Wesley Powell, August 13, 1869

About the Expedition

Powell and his crew of 9 men were the first to attempt to travel the length of the entire Grand Canyon by boat -
One of the best stories you may have never heard.

ADVENTURE

The expedition lasted 99 days and took the men through mostly uncharted territory, beginning at Green River Station in Wyoming, and ending near the (now underwater) town of Callville.

EXPLORATION

The men encountered unnamed landmarks, rapids, and other obstacles. Today, white water rafters sitll call many of these locations by the names Powell and his men gave them.

MYSTERY

Three of the ten crew members left the expedition only two days before Powell reached his final destination. The three men set off into the canyon by foot and were never seen again. Their disappearance remains a mystery to this day.
